19-Year-Old Miss Limbe 2015 Bags FCFA 500,000

Nineteen-year-old Sally Anne Williams, an Upper Sixth student of the New Horizon International High School is the latest Beauty Queen in the town of Limbe.

She emerged as Miss Limbe 2015, on Saturday, March 28, during a hotly contested beauty pageant, which saw a select cream of some 14 young beauties parade before a five-man jury in Limbe.

After the jury, headed by Hon Gladys Etombi pronounced her as winner, Anne Williams flaunted round in ecstasy. She had just become the latest beauty queen in town. The announcement that she will take home a cash prize of FCFA 500,000 came just to be the final petal of joy added on to her new crown.

“I am so excited and I want to give thanks to God because, if not of Him, I couldn’t have been here today,” Anne Williams said.

She was trailed on the second spot by Vanesa Kale, another student from the Presbyterian Youth Centre, PYC, Limbe. Kale took home a prize of FCFA 350,000, while Angel Sama from the Kulu Memorial High School Limbe, a native of Bimbia, Limbe III Subdivision, said she was happy to have been part of the competition “though it was tough and challenging.” For her beauty,

she earned FCFA 250,000 as the second runner up. Their prizes shall be handed over on Sunday, April 11, by the Committee in charge of the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture.

The beauty contest was an innovation and the first item on a series of events to mark this year’s Festival.
The opening, on April 4, according to the Local Organising Committee, shall be presided at by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ama Tutu Muna.

The cultural displays shall also involve a series of musical concerts with iconic names on Cameroon’s musical repertoire scheduled to go on stage during the cultural week. Among them is the age-old Papa Salle John, Ndedi Eyango, Prince Afo’Akom, Claudia Dikosso, François Misse Ngoh, Petit Pays and many others.
