Ambazonian Forces Order Gov’t Officials To Leave Buea

By Basil K Mbuye
Ambazonian Forces have issued an Ultimatum to all Government officials in Buea to vacate the capital of former West Cameroon before April 20.

The ultimatum which is currently posted on the social media in the past few days is issued by the newly created armed group known as the Bakossi Ambazonia Warriors.
The group in its message sent a strong warning to all administrators residing in Buea to leave the town before April 20.
Part of the message reads: “Unlike other restoration forces, we are capturing and keeping control, we are not guilty”.
The group further called on the population in Buea and other towns around Buea to stock their homes with foodstuff and other necessities and stay home for they are coming to take over the town.

They pointed out that they know it is going to be a difficult battle, but said they are willing to fight for it.
“We know that delivering our capital will not be a walk in the park, but we are ready.”
Since the message has been on social media, the atmosphere in the town has not been normal as many children have been called back home for fear of the unknown.

Also, most students of the University of Buea, who were to start the second semester last Tuesday, April 3, 2018, are yet to return.
The news has also seen security in the town of Buea tightened, while civilians continue to go about their activities.
Since the crisis escalated a few months ago, the town of Buea has not witnessed any major attack by the separatist forces.

However, the message has instilled fear in the population that have just been hearing of the atrocities committed by the Government forces and separatist forces in towns like Kembong, Kwa-Kwa, Kumba, Nguti, Mamfe, amongst others in the two English-speaking Regions of Cameroon.
With just a few days to the April 20 deadline given to the administrators by the Separatist forces to leave Buea, the fate of the Buea population remains unknown.

Some civil servants have decided to avoid Government offices in order not to be caught in any clash between Government forces and the separatist forces, should they attack.
Meanwhile, in his recent visit to the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon, Territorial Administration Minister, Paul Atanga Nji, urged the Chiefs and Fons to use their powers and bring villagers out of the forest so that dialogue can take place.

It would be recalled that Buea was the colonial capital of the Southern Cameroons from 1949 until 1961 and the capital of West Cameroon until 1972, when Ahmadou Ahidjo dissolved the Federal System of Government in Cameroon. Buea is presently the capital of the Southwest Region of Cameroon.
