Ebolowa Ranked the Most Expensive City 

According to statistics released recently by the National Institute of Statistics, NIS, Ebolowa, capital of the Southern Region leads the pack of the most expensive cities in Cameroon. 
This was done taking into consideration the state of affairs by rising food prices, and those of educational services by 3.0 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco 3.0 percent, and those of housing services up to 2.8 percent. But also the high demand of agricultural products by neighbouring countries.
 
However, the general trend seems to be satisfactory, since the overall rate fell by 0.3 percentage points at 2.1 percent compared to 2.4 percent in 2012.
The top 10 cities where the cost of living is the most expensive in Cameroon:
Ebolowa: 3,1 percent; Bamenda: 2,7 percent; Bafoussam: 2,6 percent; Yaounde: 2,3 percent; Maroua: 2,2 percent; Douala: 2,0 percent; Buea: 2,3 percent; Bertoua: 1,3 percent; N’gaoundéré: 1,0 percent; Garoua: 0,6 percent.
 
Inflation touches some very sensitive sectors of the economy, including food and non-alcoholic beverages 3.3 percent, clothing and footwear 3.0 percent, education 3.0 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco 3.0 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 2.8 percent, furniture, household items and routine household maintenance 2.1 percent, among others.
