MTN Cameroon Recognised As Employer Of Choice

A prestigious British Institution,“Investor In People”, IiP, has awarded MTN Cameroon a Gold accreditation in recognition to its excellent people management practices.
The award was attributed during a religious assessment that took place from January 19 -30, 2015.
MTN Cameroon has thus become the first and only company in the country to have received the highest accolade in people management practices from an independent and internationally recognised body. Created in 1991 by the British Government, IiP, is an institution that assists organisations to get the best outof their employees by evaluating and reinforcing their people management practices.
Out of the 15,000 organisations in 75 countries that have obtained this distinction; MTN Cameroon is the first within the MTN Group to have received the IiP, gold accreditation.
According to the Group Chief of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Officer, Paul Norman, the Group is proud of this outstanding achievement by MTN Cameroon.
“IiP Gold accreditation is the top standard which an organisation can achieve for its people management practices and, as an organisation, we are very proud of this accomplishment,” he remarked.

As an IiP accredited-organisation, the telecommunications company, MTN Cameroon, has equally been recognised for its strides towards developing local talents into word-class executives as well as its people management policies and practices which makes it truly a great place to work in. MTN Cameroon has put in place an ambitious policy of nationalisation and development of talents. For instance, only three out of the 1,000 employees are expatriates;the rest are Cameroonians,some of who have climbed the corporate ladder within the MTN Group and have been called upon to occupy positions of authority in other operations such as Congo, Ivory Coast, Benin, Guinea, Iran and the Group headquarters in South Africa.
To the MTN Cameroon CEO, Karl Toriola;“The strength of any leading organisation is its human capital, and we (MTN Cameroon), value local talents, and have unarguably implemented the most successful policy of nationalisation and development of our people”. According to Investor In People Assessor, Ian Arbuckle, the attainment of higher accreditation by MTN Cameroon barely two years after it was initially accredited Investor In People’s Employer of Choice, only solidifies this achievement. “The organisation is committed to continuous improvement of its practices,” he affirmed.
